Describe why you chose to become an NP.

I chose to become an NP as I love science and helping others, so I wanted to combine the two. I had spent time with family members in the hospital during childhood, but didn’t specifically discover my interest in the field of nursing until after college when working at the Brigham in neuropsychology.

Describe a situation in which you made a meaningful difference in the lives of one of your patients.

I work in college health and the adolescents we work with are at a critical age where many are forming lifelong habits and learning how to initiate their own self-care. It is wonderful to help educate them on how to live a healthier lifestyle.

What do you think is the best part of being a Nurse Practitioner?

Being able to care for our patients and make differences in their lives each day.

Describe your greatest practice challenge in the current healthcare environment.

Lack of knowledge and understanding around nurse practitioners and our practice.

What is the best advice you have been given or would give to a student entering the profession?

Be open to trying new things and exposing yourself to new areas of healthcare… there are so many ways to practice nursing you never know what you might enjoy and where you career may take you!
