Unfortunately, the Senate Amendment which would have removed restrictive licensing laws for NPs and CRNAs was not included in the joint House/Senate conference committee budget report.
We appreciate the efforts of our supporters in the Senate and House who worked very hard to educate their lawmaker colleagues on how these changes would be beneficial to patients and our health care delivery system.
Although we are profoundly disappointed with the outcome, we are exceedingly proud and grateful for the collective efforts of our members, nursing colleagues, patients, family and friends.
We have learned important lessons and gained invaluable experience which will better position us when we re-file this legislation in the next legislative session.
This was only the first battle in what we anticipated would be a very tough fight.
Stay tuned for plans for the next chapter in our journey.
