ANA Urges Members to Act in Support of Pending Medicare Legislation
Sunday, April 12, 2015
Please take a moment to respond to this federal action alert that has important implications for all advanced practice nurses including allowing APRNs to order durable medical equipment and document the required face to face encounter.
Action is required before April 15, 2015.
Before the Congress adjourned for recess, the House overwhelmingly passed H.R. 2, the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 with a vote of 392-37. The fate of the bill is now in the hands of the Senate, and time is of the essence - they need to act by April 15th to avoid looming Medicare provider cuts.
Please contact your Senators today and
ask them to Support H.R.2!
If enacted this bipartisan, ANA
supported bill would:
• Replace the flawed
Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula for
provider reimbursement with
an improved payment system that rewards
quality, efficiency, and innovation.
• Include nurse
practitioners, clinical nurse
specialists, and certified registered nurse
anesthetists in the new Merit-Based
Incentive Payment System.
• Remove a barrier
to practice in Medicare, allowing APRNs to order durable
medical equipment and
document the required face to face encounter.
• Reauthorize the
Children's Health Insurance Program for 2 years.
• Provide 2 years of
desperately needed funding to community health centers.
The Senate returns from recess in a few days, and must act fast - there's a
lot at stake.
