Guide to NP Practice in Massachusetts
Share |
In 2003, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners published the MCNP Guide to Nurse Practitioner Practice in Massachusetts. The guide was developed to serve as a resource for the practicing NP and a reference for the most up-to-date information regarding legal and professional regulation of practice, reimbursement, quality assurance, documentation, and professional resources.
The guidebook was a large undertaking and involved considerable effort on the part of the contributing authors, as well as significant publishing expense for the MCNP.  For the past several years, we have recognized the need to update the guidebook, but have struggled with concerns about the speed at which NP practice in Massachusetts is changing, potentially resulting in an obsolete reference by the time the project was finished.

To address this concern, we are changing the format and design of the guide. So that we can keep this vital information current and have the ability to make frequent updates, we are working to create an online version that addresses those issues most relevant to NP practice in Massachusetts.
As this work is in progress, we encourage you to visit the Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) page of the MA Board of Registration in Nursing website.
Our Student Transition to Practice and Resource Pages also provide invaluable information.
